Oil and Gas Operations Accounting

A Professional Development Course

Earn 10 CPD Hours

Many of an organization’s key decisions are driven by operations. Therefore, to be able to effectively participate in the decision-making process, it is critical that all participants (including accountants) have an appreciation of the operational aspects of the business.

This course was developed primarily for accounting professionals from other industries who want to gain an understanding of oil and gas operations accounting. However, it can also be a useful tool for non-accountants who want to become familiar with the industry. While the course is not meant to include all the detailed requirements of operations accounting (which could easily fill several volumes), it does provide an overview of the underlying key concepts from a Canadian perspective including:

  • Revenues
  • Royalties
  • Operating Expenses
  • Capital Expenditures
  • Joint Venture Accounting
  • Oilsands
