The collapse of the price of crude oil in recent years has increased the activity in the acquisitions and sales of oil and gas assets. Accountants working in the oil and gas industry are expected to have a basic understanding of these activities.

Asset sales and acquisitions continue to be an integral part of the oil and gas industry in Canada. The successful completion of these transactions depends on the cross-functional skills of the staff involved. Obtaining an understanding of the basic concepts of acquisitions, as covered in this course, is therefore highly recommended.

This primer course was developed for accounting professionals working in the oil and gas sector who want to expand their cross-functional knowledge of their industry.

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the acquisitions of oil and gas assets in Canada, including:

Course Delivery

  • Upon registration, students will receive a link to the course.
  • To be eligible for the certificate of completion and the 1 CPD Hour, students are required to review the lesson notes, as well as complete one test with a minimum grade of 50%. Students are permitted two attempts to complete the test.
  • The certificate of completion will be issued once all requirements have been met.
  • Students are expected to complete this course within 30 days of registration (course access will expire after that period).
